About NITDA Empowers
The NITDA Empowers program is a project of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) designed to bridge the ICT Skill gap amongst persons living with disability while empowering them with Information Technology skills and entrepreneurship skills. The intent is to train participants on variety of information technology skill and also equip them with tools that would empower them with the capacity to setup small businesses thereby providing them with a veritable source of income and by extension, also become employers of labour.
The programme is a week long training program on tech-preneurship, Office Automation and Internet fundamentals. The courses have been concocted to transfer hands-on wealth creation skills to participants to enable them start a small-scale business and eventually earn a living through the project.
The training program is open to all Nigerians living with disability and all selected participant would go home with a brand new laptop with Office Automation Software that can be used for starting a small scale ICT business. PLEASE NOTE THAT NITDA WOULD ONLY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FEEDING OF PARTICIPANTS DAILY DURING THE PERIOD OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM. WE WOULD NOT ACCOMMODATION OR INTERSTATE TRANSPORTATION OF PARTICIPANTS
This edition of the program would commence on Friday the 11th July, 2018 and run through Thursday 17th August, 2018. The Training would at a Training Facility in Gombe, Gombe State. Details of the training venue would however be communicated to only successful applicants as attendance is strictly by invitation. Sessions would commence daily at 9am prompt and run through 5pm daily except on Friday.
Eligibility, Application and Participation
Participation in the program is open to all Nigerians and it is FREE of cost. However, this edition would only be able to accommodate 50 participants only. Intending Applicants must have a verifiable form of disability and some level of formal education preferably Secondary School Leaving Certificate. Participants must also be able to read and write in English. Selection of participants would also be on a promptness of your application. Intending participants should click here to apply.
Training sessions would focus on how to start small scale ICT business with the tools that participants would receive at the end of the training programme.
Office Automation Systems
Participants would be introduced to working with Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office Suite. They would learn word processing with Microsoft Word, Crafting Presentations with Power-point and Carrying out various analytical tasks on spread-sheet using Microsoft Excel
Internet and On-line Activities
Participant would also be taught how the Internet works and be shown how to harness opportunities that abound on the on-line space especially for persons living with disability.
